This case was designed to give our modder room in his case for liquid cooling components for his existing Shuttle system. By relocating it, he could gain some extra space and cooling potential - whilst also making it look a little cooler, too. The name simply comes from the fact that it's the first machine on his new network.

The front of the case is made of MDF, which is all masked up here. Cutting out the right size holes in the material requires some good measuring and slow, accurate cutting - keeping the wood masked to avoid scratches to the surface.

Kumo is using aluminium lengths to give the case structure and hold it together. He's also hand-made some drive bay cages out of aluminium, which you can see attached to the case here.

You can see the components fit in as the case comes together. Although its not finally finished, Kumo took the case out to a local LAN party and the results are pretty good, we think you'll agree. It hasn't all gone according to plan - the chassis is slightly larger at the back than at the front, due to some suspect measuring, and getting the Shuttle motherboard in to the case has also proved something of an ordeal.

However, not content with just making a swish custom case, our man is keen for a swish custom carry case with which to transport his custom case! Enlisting his girlfriend, Kumo has made a padded protection case for it, complete with carry handle and LAN-gubbins-carry-pockets. An awesome job!

Check out the full worklog for more interesting details on the creation of the case.
